Extra-Curricular Activities
Evening activities and some restaurants to make finding your dinner easier:
Friday Night at the Bar
8:30 P.M. – We have a special bar set up just for us. Come get a necklace that shows off the genres you write in or would like to conquer. Then, easily find other writers with your same interests.
Do you write in more than one genre? No problem. Wear many, and doll yourself up for the conference.

Colors:
GOLD—NOIR
SILVER-COZY, AMATEUR SLEUTH
RED- POLICE PROCEDURAL
GREEN-GUM SHOE PRIVATE DETECTIVE
PURPLE-SUSPENSE, PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
BLUE-HISTORICAL

9 P.M. Don’t miss meeting Haris Orkin and meet his character James Flynn… Yes, we said James, James Flynn, Secret Agent of Her Majesty’s Service. Haris is a novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and an award-nominated game writer. His James Flynn character exceeds all expectations for the power to formulate a powerful figure for a series, action writing, and laugh-out-loud humor.
9:30 P.M. At The Bar finishes with a battle between Protagonists and Antagonists. As elements needed to create strong main characters are announced, players will offer their best examples.
Saturday Night

8 P.M. Come join us in the Campground Room for a showing of the documentary WOMEN OF MYSTERY! This one hour film features one of our founding members, Sara Paretsky (creator of PI VI Warshawski from Chicago); the late Sue Grafton (creator of PI Kinsey Millhone from the Santa Barbara/Santa Teresa area in her alphabet series); and Marcia Muller (creator of PI Sharon McCone from the San Francisco area). These writers definitely forever changed detective fiction and helped launch Sisters in Crime to give women writers a much needed boost in the genre. We’ll have a few surprises, too, so plan to attend!
